Manufacturing process
Aluminium is lightweight and malleable metal, which does not lose its properties during melting. Therefore its production can be cyclical. Aluminium alloys made from scrap are supplied to our customers’ plants, where they are used to manufacture various castings mainly for automotive branch or other products. After their life – cycle is finished , used parts are scrapped again. It is very likely that our specialists will re-purchase them for Nicromet manufacturing sites, where they will be re-processed into aluminium alloys. According to estimates, approximately 75% of material produced so far is still utilized. Aluminium recycling from scrap is cheaper and demands less energy than when metal is extracted from ore. The amount of impurities discharged to the environment during the process is less by 95%. The manufacturing process used by our factories can be divided into 6 steps:

01. Purchase of raw materials
Scrap aluminium and alloying agents such as: silicon, nickel, manganese, titanium and other additions.

02. Scrap quality inspection
Every shipment is carefully checked in respect of radioactivity, chemical composition and impurities.

03. Melting, refining
To obtain an alloy of required chemical composition, a properly selected charge is melted and enriched.

04. Aluminium pouring
Aluminium is poured by means of special transport ladles or hot-metal runners. Alloy is delivered to the customer as cones, ingots or in liquid form.

05. Utilization of aluminium alloys
Castings made of recycled aluminium are used by our customers for the production of automotive parts and other products.

06. Recycling
More and more aluminium is subject to recycling in conformity with pro-environmental trends and sustainable development programmes. Aluminium is highly recoverable.
